Amsterdam
A different perspective on Amsterdam, captured through light, shadow, and contrast.
This project is a personal exploration of Amsterdam through black-and-white photography. By removing colour, I wanted to focus on the elements that often go unnoticed — the relationship between light and architecture, the movement of people, reflections on the canals, textures, and the small details that shape the atmosphere of the city.
Working in monochrome allowed me to approach Amsterdam in a more timeless and intimate way. Without the distraction of colour, every shadow, line, silhouette, and expression becomes part of the story.
The series moves between quiet streets and moments of everyday life, capturing both the stillness and energy of the city. Each photograph reflects a different atmosphere, but together they create a visual narrative of Amsterdam as I experienced it.
